State Park to Lubbock (day 1)

Monday - Feb 27

We awoke to the gobbling of turkeys!  I jumped out of bed before dawn and tried to take photos of the gaggle of turkeys in the campground.

Later in the morning we got a few better pictures.

We drove around the park and took a short hike on one of the CCC trails, but in our hurry to get to Lubbock to my sister's house, bypassed the longer more popular Lighthouse trail.

We did see three Barbary sheep and about ten or so white tailed deer. The visitor's center was informative and high on the canyon.

We drove down to Lubbock and arrived around noon.  Got parked in the Crozier driveway and  Karisa had made some banana bread and so we had some for afternoon snack and again later for dessert. Trevor cooked some really good BLT's for dinner.  Lots of talking and laughter!! And the finale was the nail salon operated by Cristina.  Kelly, Karisa and I all got our nails done with sparkly nail polish.  Here are my lovely nails right after with my pretty purple polish and blue sparkly stuff. Thanks Cristina...
