San Antonio (day 3) to Austin (day 3)

Sunday March 5 – Another rainy day in San Antonio!  Time to head back to Austin:
Nice green RV spot!

We headed north to New Braunfels, TX which has a German heritage. We stopped for a break at the New Braunsfels' coffee shop for coffee and apple strudel. The town square had a gazebo and fountain. Across the street was a German designed courthouse. The town is also known for a big waterpark called Schlitterbaun.

Then on to San Marcos and a search for diesel fuel.  Coming back into Austin reminds me that I don’t really ever want to navigate this interstate system.

Returned to our RV park in Austin. This park is near a lake and we wanted to find out if there was a bike trail near the lake.  We found the lake and determined that it was primarily for fishing and no bike trail. As we were searching, we found a Hindu Temple.  The temple  grounds were open but the temple was enclosed partially within another building.   People were inside worshiping.  It looked like there were at least three temples in use. The largest temple looked like it had scaffolding around it, but upon getting closer, it looks like they built a wall around the temple. I guess to protect it from outsiders.

We also found an unusual grouping of different buildings at a place called Community First! Village. There were teepees, geodomes, tiny houses, new RV’s and retro RV’s. The housing was grouped around a village concept with large gardens, chickens, and a supply store.  We checked google and found that the community is to ensure that the homeless or disabled have a place to live.

We went to Chrissy’s for dinner and met Mark.  They had just returned from a weekend trip to Albuquerque for her mother’s birthday party.  We arrived to a meal secured from Ruby’s BBQ and it was delicious.  Mark was aware of the blog and agreed to be a part of the adventure.

We came back to the RV before dark and will meet up with Chrissy again tomorrow!
