Austin (day 5)

Tuesday – Mar 7

I woke up with a sinus headache. Lots of clouds and humidity but no rain.  We drove over to Chrissy’s and had breakfast.  I took a nap on her bed, while Jim and Chrissy worked on a project which involved a trip to Home Depot to get parts to fix her living room drapery rods.  We snacked but didn’t really have lunch.

We went over to the Bob Bullock Texas Museum which is a good display of all things Texas. From settlement to oil to agriculture to space.  An interesting thing about Texas is that it was an independent republic when it joined the USA. Other states were territories that were established as states, so any land that was not privately owned when the state joined the union was considered federal land. In the case of Texas, any land that was not privately owned, belonged to the state. That is why there is so little federal land in Texas.

We went to Wheatsville Coop for some food. This is a health food store that Chrissy’s worked at when she first moved to Austin. We went back to her house and she cooked some jalapeno poppers (which were pretty hot). Then I made her a plum/raspberry cobbler.  I made a chicken noddle dish that Karisa made while we were in Lubbock.  Mine was a little lacking as compared to Karisa’s but the cobbler was great!
